IDENTIFY AND ATTRACT FUTURE LEADERS
The Fund has long advocated for strategies that create a pipeline of instructional leaders throughout the system. We work closely with City Schools to identify and develop current staff members, at both the district and school levels, who demonstrate an interest, and the potential, for effective leadership. We also support the City Schools’ efforts to attract new leaders into the system to contribute fresh perspectives and needed expertise to the issues at hand.

Through our many local, regional and national outreach efforts, the Fund helps recruit individual talent as well as create connections between the City Schools and organizations whose missions support the district’s on-going human capital needs. For example, the Fund:

      • Incubated and continues to support New Leaders for New Schools in Baltimore which
has successfully recruited and placed a number of new principals in our city.

      • Supports the City Schools efforts to expand its partnership with Teach for America to
bring additional candidates into the leadership continuum.

      • Brokered and supports Education Pioneers efforts in Baltimore, including placing
high-caliber college graduates in summer internships and year-long fellowships at
         the City Schools.
