Ms. Wright has been with the Fund for Educational Excellence since 1998. She has played an active role in the development and implementation of many of the Fund’s signature reform initiatives, including its nationally recognized Achievement First whole-school literacy reform model and its ongoing partnership with the Baltimore City Public School System to promote and implement proven strategies for increasing student achievement. The Fund’s former Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Wright brings a unique and experienced perspective to directing and managing the organizations’ strategic initiatives and partnerships, as well as its human and financial resources. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University.

Lisa Bishop, Director of Programs

Lisa Bishop, Director of Programs, earned an M.B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore and a B.S. from James Madison University. A former Senior Program Manager for the Fund, she most recently served as Program Manager for the Baltimore Partnership for Equity and brings a range of experience from both the non-profit and public sectors having also worked for Communities In Schools, Inc.®, and the State of Maryland. She started her career as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership, where she directed a statewide youth development program. Part of Ms. Bishop’s role includes aligning all of the Fund’s programmatic work, including this dedicated secondary school literacy model expansion of Achievement First; overall knowledge management for the Fund; and ensuring that the Fund’s priorities continue to support BCPSS’s key needs and reform goals.

Sharon Dondes, Director of Communications

Ms. Dondes earned an M.B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore, a a B.A. from Wellesley College, and is a former Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in the Humanities. A member of the Fund's staff since 2003, she has over 20 years of marketing, strategic planning, and business development experience. Prior to joining the Fund, she served most recently as Vice President, Network Development for MedStar Physician Partners.

Janise Lane, Program Manager-Literacy Reform K-8

Ms. Lane holds a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Towson University and is an accomplished career educator with experience as a literacy consultant, workshop instructor, curriculum specialist, college professor and national literacy consultant. A former teacher specialist in Anne Arundel County, she served as a Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator for the University of Maryland’s Urban Teacher Education division.

Brianna McMullen, Program Manager – District Reform

Ms. McMullen holds a M.A. in Art Education from the University of North Texas, a B.A. in Elementary Education from Texas Lutheran University, and is currently pursuing an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland. She most recently served as the Senior Education Coordinator for School Programs at the Walters Art Museum where she developed a model for statewide K-12 school outreach and led teacher professional development sessions. She previously served as an adjunct instructor at Tarrant County College and started her career as an elementary art teacher in the Bryan Independent School District, both in Texas.

Hope O’Neil, Program Manager – Secondary Literacy

Ms. O'Neil holds a M.Ed. and B.A. from Goucher College in Baltimore. A former middle school Lead Teacher, Team Leader and Demonstration Classroom Teacher in the Baltimore City Public School System, Ms. O’Neil is an accomplished coach, professional developer and curriculum writer, and a regular presenter on these topics at local and national conferences.

Kathleen Wiess, Finance and Human Resources Manager

Ms. Wiess holds a B.S. in Business and Finance from Mount Saint Mary’s College, and is responsible for maintaining all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable. She previously served as Senior Accountant for Active Day, Inc. where she helped establish accounting functions for that $50 million company; and as Senior Account for Symphony Health Services with oversight responsibility for three divisions totaling $27 million in annual revenue.

LaToya Sims Walker, Administrative Assistant

Ms. Sims Walker is the former Volunteer and Special Projects Coordinator for the Baltimore Education Network. She studied Industrial Engineering at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and has an extensive volunteer history in public schools, election poll watching and membership in a variety of community organizations.
