Knowledge Development

This is a growing priority area for the Fund where we will leverage our deep understanding of Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) priorities and needs, as well as our long-standing relationships with funders and other like-minded organizations, to examine policy and practice that have the potential to deliver promising outcomes but are not yet an articulated priority of the district. We will use our knowledge of what currently exists in our city’s public schools to identify solutions and best practices from other districts.

At the same time, we continue to provide critical support to other non-profits as they strive to fill the gaps in our local education landscape. For example, recognizing the need for more substantive data analysis and research to inform the district’s reform efforts, the Fund helped launch the Baltimore Education Research Consortium (BERC) partnership among Johns Hopkins University (JHU), Morgan State University (MSU), and City Schools.
